Everyone loves to write articles quickly for their blogs, Medium, or whatever site they write on. I mean why wouldn’t we want to speed up our writing process to produce more content?

Right?
But here’s the problem… when you focus on producing more content, often the content you produce goes down in quality. Now, this certainly isn’t always the case… but it easily can be.
When we are focused on speed and getting more and more articles out the articles we put out can easily become… subpar (okay crappy).
How do I know this?
Because I’m guilty of it too.
I’ve recently been working on one of my blogging websites and although the articles are good… they are far from great. And the main reason why… is that I tried to produce more content.
So the last 5 articles that I’ve produced have taken me 6–8 hours of work to put together instead of the typical hour that I would normally spend. The articles have been 2500–4500 words with all sorts of images, tables, infographics, and more.
Essentially I created the absolute best possible post for that keyword instead of doing it halfway.
Now it’s far too early to tell how much better this will work than just producing content faster but I’m fully convinced that once it ranks at the top (I’m currently in position 6–8) for all the possible keywords and variations it will bring in thousands of pageviews a month.
And no one will want to compete with it either as who wants to put in all of that work?
So rather than trying to write as fast as possible here are the 5 things that I would recommend that you do instead.
1. Write articles that are thorough
Probably the biggest issue with trying to get articles done quickly is that you will just give surface-level information rather than take a deep dive into the subject.
Say for example you are writing an article about whether a memory foam pillow is hot.
If you are writing an article as fast as possible you might say that they aren’t hot and end, give a bit more info, and then move on to the next subheading.
However, if you are actually trying to give the best possible information and be thorough with your article you might talk about the different types of memory foam pillows and how they compare when it comes to how hot they are. You might write about how the pillowcase you choose makes a difference as well since some breath better than others.
By taking the time to write a better article and being more thorough with your information you will help the reader far more than when you just give surface information.
2. Write articles that fully answer the query
When you take your time to write an article not only will you be more thorough but you will also be able to fully answer the question in the best way possible.
Often the best way to fully answer a question isn’t just with text. To fully answer the query you might need to add a short video clip, create a table, make an infographic, etc. and that takes time.
If you are trying to write as fast as possible you won’t take the time to add in the information that fully answers the question or query that the keyword is asking. However, when you take the time and actually fully answer the query your article will be far more helpful and rank far higher.
People want to get their query answered in a single article but often they have to read a few articles, watch a few YouTube videos, and then piece it all together themselves.
How about instead of making your reader do that… fully answer the entire query in your blog post/article.
3. Write articles that answer the reader’s next logical question
Once you fully answer the query or the intent of the original keyword to write a complete article you need to then move on to answer what their next logical question would be.
Back to our example from earlier about a memory foam pillow is hot, what could the next logical question be that you could answer in the next section?
Well obviously they are concerned about their pillow being hot in bed, so why not expand on that and have a section about how to cool down any pillow or about which memory foam pillow is the coolest option?
This is kind of a guessing game as obviously each reader might have something different that they are thinking about next but if the original query or keyword is specific enough then you can certainly take a very educated guess about what subheading might interest them.
4. Write articles that are over-the-top helpful
So now you’ve answered the original query or thought from the keyword, given a full answer and been as thorough as possible, and written a subheading or two that help them with their next obvious thought… what next?
The next thing I would say to do is to make that article over the top helpful.
I’m talking so fricking helpful that when someone comes and reads your article they are blown away by how much information it gives them and how helpful everything in the article is.
A good example of this would be a recent article I wrote for one of my sites. All of the internet had the same specs for the item… but didn’t have any of the specs for all the variations of the item.
So I spent probably 30–45 minutes going through and doing the math to give the specs for every single variation of the item.
Before I created that article that information was nowhere on the internet as no one wanted to take the time to do the math on all of the specs. So now my article is the only one on the internet that truly answers the questions that people have about that item in every possible way.
That is over-the-top helpful!
5. Write articles that keep the reader’s attention
The last thing that happens when trying to write as fast as possible is that you often put out boring articles.
Why do people use AI software like Jasper to write their articles? It’s not because they think it makes their writing better. It’s because they are trying to speed up their writing.
And by using software like that they wrote boring articles like everyone else.
Seriously stop writing the same old boring junk as everyone else and add some personality to your articles. Share how you did or tried something that did or didn’t work.
Tell stories about how you used a product or service and it went well (or didn’t).
In your writing try to find a way to incorporate stories from your life and experiences that help to further explain the concept or item that you are writing about.
Then not only will your articles be more entertaining but people will read more of them… which means better rankings and better ad revenue as well.
